Why are we marching?

Every Spring, the Jewish people commemorate the 6 million lives lost and the atrocities committed against their people during the holocaust on a day called Yom HaShoah, which translated means Holocaust Day. This has been a relatively quiet event that many outside of the Jewish community are unaware of.

It is observed in Jewish Communities throughout the world with memorial ceremonies. In Israel, it is a national memorial day and a public holiday. It is observed annually on the 27th of Nisan on the Hebrew calendar, which falls in April or May on the Gregorian calendar. This year, Yom HaShaoh occurs on April 18, 2012.

The Walk of Remembrance provides an opportunity for people worldwide to publicly demonstrate their respect for the Jewish people and their right to exist as a nation. Throughout their long history, the Jewish people have repeatedly been threatened with annihilation from their various enemies, with no logical justification, other than that they were Jewish.

Most of humanity has stood by silently, either oblivious, or indifferent to the plight of the Jewish people, or unwilling to risk taking a stand in their defense.

Join us and break the silence. If this is a stand and proclamation that you desire to make, please join us on April 22nd and let the sound of your footsteps stamp out the silence of indifference and self preservation that has occurred throughout the centuries. Walk in solidarity for the Jewish people to let them know that, while we cannot erase the events of the past, we are willing to forge the footprints of the future, side by side with them, breaking the silence of indifference to stand in their defense.

You can walk with us!
In cities all over the USA and internationally, there will be people participating in walks of remembrance. These events are still being organized, but to be informed about any marches close to your city, you'll need to register as a Marcher.

You can commit to pray before and during the March of Remembrance.
We need committed intercessors to take shifts leading up to and also during April 22, 2012. To get on the prayer schedule register as an intercessor.

You can buy the T-shirt and be a walking billboard.
Everyone will be wearing these attractive t-shirts as we walk in cities worldwide on April 22, 2012, but you can be the first to proclaim it in your city! Not only will you have a stylish garment to wear but every purchase helps us give a Holocaust survivor the platform to give their testimony.

You can organize a special meeting to inform your community.
Would you be willing to help us communicate the vision to church and civic leaders for a March of Remembrance in your area?

You can walk somewhere or help organize an event in your city.
The March of Remembrance is a public prayer walk taking place on April 22nd. You can join the walk in Washington, D.C. or the one nearest you. You can also organize an event in your city. You can volunteer.
You can help with things like hospitality, local promotion, making signs, set up, transportation, clean up, or other related tasks associated with a March of Remembrance in your area. Click here to register as volunteer.

You can offer financial support - We need all the help we can get!
There are travel and lodging expenses for the Holocaust survivors at the various events, bills related to promotion and printing, and other necessary costs incurred. All donations are tax deductable and can be made at our website or March of Remembrance events.

At this time, we have a critical need for Organizers to step forward and initiate March of Remembrance activities in their communities.
